Food Forward is a proud supporter of the Garden School Foundation here in Los Angeles and wanted to let you know about an upcoming workday at the 24th Street School.
Dear GSF Supporters:
Just a reminder to come and visit the 24th Street School at our upcoming workday, next Saturday, 10/24, 9-12 at the 24th Street School. We are fortunate to have our partners from RootDown LA, Megan Hansen and Katy Atkiss, providing us all a delicious meal!
The school address: 2055 West 24th Street (between Western and Arlington Avenues). For any additional information, please contact me (contact info. below).
GSF has also been featured in the most recent issue of Edible LA magazine! We are very grateful to Lucy Lean (editor of Edible and GSF board member) for all her support! If possible, please take a moment to subscribe to the magazine and read about the sustainable food movement in our city that we’re all a part of! To subscribe go to this link:
GSF’s chairperson, Nancy Power, has just released her new book, “The Power of Gardens” and will be at a book signing this upcoming Saturday, 10/17 (2-3:30 PM), at the Hennesey and Ingalls bookstore located in Santa Monica: 214 Wilshire Blvd. (adjacent to 3rd Street Promenade). Please come support Nancy and GSF!
Finally, our friends at the Watts Labor Community Action Committee (WLCAC) have asked all community and school garden supporters to attend a series of upcoming meetings held by the Southern Regional Volunteer Neighborhood Oversight Committees (RVNOC). WLCAC hopes to overturn a decision made by the city of LA failing to provide Proposition K funding for the MudTown Farm in Watts. The meetings will be held every Wednesday, October 21, 28, and Nov. 4th from 3-5PM at
Office of the City Administrative
City Hall East, 12th Floor,
Conference Room A
200 North Main Street
Los Angeles, CA 90012
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Sally Hageman, WLCAC at (323) 357-3534.
Look forward to seeing you at 24th Street next Saturday!
